Β·       Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to check in and complete any necessary paperwork.

Β·       Volunteers are asked to commit to a full day.

Β·       Safety Orientation begins promptly on time, and you must be present.

Β·       Volunteers who show up late after the safety orientation may be turned away.

FORMS & REGISTRATION

All volunteers must register in advance so we can ensure there is enough work and supplies for everyone. Individuals who are not pre-registered may not be accommodated on the worksite and be turned away.

Β·       If you registered online, your liability waiver is already complete.

Β·       If you did NOT register online, please bring your completed paperwork (liability waiver and volunteer registration form) and give it to staff member when you check in.

Β·       We must have this paperwork before you are allowed to volunteer.

WHAT TO WEAR

Dress with safety and comfort in mind. Choose clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or stained, as painting may be involved. We advise wearing sunscreen as well

Β·       Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required (work boots or sneakers)

Β·       Layered clothing (weather change)

Β·       Avoid loose or baggy clothing, as it can be hazardous when using tools.

SUPPLIES & EQUIPMENT

We aim to provide all necessary tools and equipment for everyone, including essential items such as a tool belt, hammer, pencil, measuring tape, work gloves, safety glasses, and knee pads. If you have your own preferred tools, please label them with your name so we can return them if left behind. Additionally, remember to bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.

LUNCH BREAK

There will be a 1-hour lunch break.

Β·       Lunch is not typically provided.

Β·       If you're part of a group (corporate, church, etc.), check with your organizer.

Β·       Otherwise, bring your own lunch or plan to get something nearby.

WEATHER

Although we rarely cancel building days due to weather, the safety of our volunteers is our top priority. If we determine that conditions are unsafe for volunteering due to severe weather, we will notify you via email the night before your scheduled day. Additionally, you can call our Construction Update Hotline: πŸ“ž 303-682-2485, then press 7 for the latest updates.

Consider volunteering indoors at the Longmont ReStore instead.

STARTING THE DAY

Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. While living at Koinonia Farm, a Christian community founded by Clarence Jordan, the Fullers developed the concept of "partnership housing." This idea involves building simple, decent houses for families in need, utilizing volunteer and donations. In line with its non-denominational Christian roots, a prayer is offered at the beginning of each workday, although participation is always optional. You can learn more about our history and faith heritage here.

LOCATION

We are actively working in several locations. The address of the work site will be e-mailed to you after you register.  Click here to see where we are working.
