OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

Support Our Volunteers by Buying Goodies

Volunteers help us build and repair homes. To show appreciation for their hard work and service, St. Vrain Habitat provides snacks, drinks, and other goodies. Help take good care of these volunteers. Visit our registry on Walmart’s website.

Honor and Memorial Gifts

Remember a loved one with a gift to Habitat.  To make a gift in honor of someone, please mail a check along with a note indicating the purpose of the gift, as well as the name and address of the honoree.  This meaningful gift is also perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Mother's or Father’s Day, or any time you want to express your appreciation to someone special.

How the One Big Beautiful Bill Act Changes Charitable Giving

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) makes several important changes to how charitable donations are treated for tax purposes, beginning in 2026. While the law does not eliminate the benefits of giving, it does change how those benefits work β€” and for some donors, it changes which giving strategy makes the most sense.

The effects vary depending on your income, age, and how you give. Read the guide below to walk through the key changes and what they mean in practice.

Good News for Generous Givers

Starting in 2026, you may be able to save on your taxes and support Habitat and other causes you love β€” even if you don't itemize deductions.

Under a new federal tax rule, most Americans can now deduct charitable cash donations on top of the standard deduction:

  • Individuals β†’ deduct up to $1,000

  • Married couples filing jointly β†’ deduct up to $2,000

Since about 85–90% of households take the standard deduction, this is a big deal. For years, most donors missed out on any tax benefit for giving. That changes in 2026.

What it means for you: Your donation to a qualified charity could now put a little money back in your pocket come tax time β€” a small thank-you for doing something good.

Smart giving isn't just good for your taxes β€” it's good for the causes you care about. A little planning can mean a bigger gift to Habitat without a bigger hit to your wallet. When you give strategically, everybody wins. You make the most of what you've earned, and Habitat can do more for the families and communities that need it most.
