every gift makes a difference

Your Gift Changes Everything

Every donation, no matter the size, helps build a foundation for a better life. When you give to Habitat, you’re not just funding nails and lumber—you’re investing in futures. Giving $25 or making Habitat the beneficiary of your estate, every bit helps. Each gift is impacting lives – together we are building homes, community, and hope.

About Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a convenient way to manage your charitable giving while receiving an immediate tax deduction. DAFs are administered by a sponsoring organization (such as a financial institution, community foundation, or dedicated DAF provider). Donors contribute to their fund and can recommend grants to their favorite nonprofit organizations—like Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley—over time.

Key Features

  • Contribute to your fund in one year for tax purposes, or add to it gradually over time.

  • Recommend grants to nonprofits whenever you choose—immediately or in future years.

  • Contributions are irrevocable (you can’t withdraw funds for personal use) but you decide which charities receive grants.

  • Best suited for assets that are already liquid (not in an IRA) and when a tax deduction is desired.

Benefits

  • Immediate tax deduction upon contribution to your DAF.

  • Flexibility to support nonprofits on your own timeline.

  • Ability to make a lasting impact on causes you care about.

How to Give Through a DAF

  1. Set up a DAF with one of the following:

    • A financial services provider such as Vanguard, Schwab, Fidelity, or Thrivent

    • A bank such as Bank of America or Chase

    • A dedicated DAF provider such as DAFgiving360.org

  2. Submit your grant recommendation to your DAF sponsor.
    Provide them with our information:
Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley
    303 Atwood St.
    Longmont, CO 80501
    EIN: 84-1092616

  3. Notify us when you recommend a grant.
Share your contact details so we can thank you and confirm your gift was received.

About Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals aged 70½ or older to donate directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified charity, such as Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley.

QCDs can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)—the amount you must withdraw annually from your IRA once you reach age 73—while reducing your taxable income.

Benefits

  • Exclude the donated amount from your taxable income.

  • Count the donation toward your annual Required Minimum Distribution.

  • Make an immediate impact on your community.

  • Ideal for funds still held in an IRA, as donations are made tax-free when transferred directly to the charity.

How It Works

  1. Contact your IRA administrator to initiate a Qualified Charitable Distribution.
Provide them with the following information:
Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley
    303 Atwood St.
    Longmont, CO 80501
    EIN: 84-1092616
(You may give up to $108,000 per year in QCDs.)

  2. Complete and submit any required forms to your financial institution.

  3. Funds are typically transferred directly to Habitat within 5–10 business days.

  4. Enjoy a tax-free gift that fulfills your RMD and supports affordable housing in your community.

Note: You will not receive a separate charitable income tax deduction for a QCD, but you will benefit by excluding the distribution from your taxable income.
